Isaac and Rebekah (Genesis 24) Printable Bible Lesson & Sunday School Activities
When we think of love and romance, ideas of fairy tale stories and cute meet-ups often come to mind. However, for most of history (and sometimes even now), marriages were arranged matters with little choice left up to a bride. The story of Isaac and Rebekah is an interesting passage that reminds us of the importance of wise marital partnership and assures us that God has a plan and purpose for marriage. Although young children are probably not thinking about a spouse just yet, itās important to teach them early on that God wants us to trust Him with all aspects of our lives and relationships, and that He will provide for us when the time is right.
This story shows how waiting on the Lord and trusting His direction continue to allow for Godās promises and blessings to come through. Abraham, Isaac, the servant, and Rebekah all had faith that God was guiding their paths and providing His choice of a wife for Isaac. We know that God has our best interests in mind and will give us what we need in the best way and time. We can trust in Him and lean on Him for all of the decisions and blessings of our lives. Ultimately, His plan for marriage is a partnership that honors Him and reflects the love He has for us.Ā
